“Knowledge is what we can gain from our experiences, but wisdom is what we can gain from others who have already had those experiences,” Benton T. Thompson III says. In his gentle tone and with a lighthearted smile, he adds “knowledge is sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic, but wisdom is taking an alternative route because you listened when someone said the highway was bumper to bumper.”
If you are seeking wisdom and/or truth, you’ve come to the right place. Benton T. Thompson III is a captivating author and speaker with a keen loving heart, who wants to assist in helping seekers find the truth.
As an ordained Minister since 1996, serving in the pastorate 15 years; Thompson has penned a wide-body of work. He was a featured writer for many years in a national women’s magazine, “Precious Times.” He shared insider information with women everywhere in the column titled “The Brother’s Corner.”
In his first book, Why Men Hunt - Providers or Stewards, Thompson asserts that God has already provided everything humans are hunting for. Among his many talents, Thompson can also be named an International Missioner. After spending time in India, Asia, the UK, Philippines, Central America, Israel, and the West Indies, he penned Sons of God - Bar Abba, which teaches readers how to become a successor to the Kingdom of Heaven. He reveals “The way to do this is by growing and maturing in your love for Abba, which means daddy.”
Thompson served for a period of time as an instructor on a satellite campus of Jacksonville Theological Seminary, teaching others how to seek truth and how to assist those seeking it. Thompson’s pursuit of truth lead him on a personal pilgrimage to Israel, where he was baptized in the Jordan River as well as baptized others.
In his five-part “How To” series, Thompson instructs readers How to Hear God (also available in Spanish), How to Trust God, How to Follow God, How to Obey God, and How to Pray to God with the utmost practicality. These works are also available in CD with simple, easy to follow along guides to help with self-growth. Thompson’s ninth published book, Divinely Dysfunctional - Unique on Purpose articulates that your dysfunction is the key to unlocking your destiny.
Thompson’s life mirrored his passion for ministry when he started a homeless men’s shelter program and served as a chaplain for the oldest orphanage in Atlanta, Georgia.
Thompson's tenth published book (2020) is titled CLOSE - Draw Near. This book provides a place for the weary to rest. After losing his closest older sister, Thompson admits that he was in a very low place. Although feeling broken, the anxiety and suffering he felt during that time actually helped to propel him to find a way--a new way--to go on. He found himself on an in-depth truth-seeking path. This way of handling trauma was shown to him by his father many years earlier when Thompson was only six weeks old, as the family was devastated by the drowning death of two of his sisters who were only four and six years old.
