HIDDEN PURPOSE
So many of us, are asking this question; What is My Purpose?
There are numerous books, podcasts, articles, and journals written for that very reason on this subject.
That’s because the answer doesn’t appear to be readily evident, accessible or available. Many would agree, that at the very least it’s not an obvious answer.
One might even suggest that Purpose is Hidden.
So then, What is My Purpose and Where is it hiding?
What if I told you that Your Purpose is not a What. It’s not a task or assignment like many of us have come to believe.
Instead, our Purpose is a WHO. And it’s not “hiding”, rather it is concealed.
Hidden suggests it doesn’t want to be found. While conversely, concealed, says it’s right there, just waiting to be found.
Ok then, Who and Where is our Purpose?
Our WHO is hidden in a Problem, that’s the WHERE. We all know that no one likes or goes looking for Problems, right! Most of us don’t willingly seek out chaos or confusion. We tend to avoid things that infuriate or frustrate us. No one willingly goes looking for headaches.
That’s exactly how Purpose has evaded us for so long. It has been concealed in the perfect hiding spot. No one would ever think of looking for their Purpose in their Pain, Problems, or some Provocation.
My desire today is to help uncover Purpose, wherever it is concealed.
I don’t like to make any assumptions. So, let’s begin with a definition.
Purpose is defined as the reason that something exists. It’s derived from an Old French word, Proposer.
Pro – as in for, not against. Pose – as in a position.
Your Purpose is For a Position that you must be in, before you will receive/acquire or possess it.
Purpose is a transitive verb. Which means some action must take place.
We are the WHO! We are the ProPosers for our Purpose. Our Purpose happens because of us, not to us! Our Purpose is revealed through us!
Unfortunately, in today’s culture of ease, relaxation, slack off, avoidance and do nothing, Purpose is so challenging to actualize.
Purpose appears when Problems appear. But that’s also when we run the other way. Miracles appear when Misery appears. Talent shows up when Trouble shows out. Can you see the pattern here?
They are the Power Twins. You don’t get the one without the other one.
Christopher Wallace realized this when he sang Mo Money, Mo Problems. Shout out to Biggy.
The Bible puts it this way, “to whom much is given, much is required”.
Both are saying the same thing. When you get one, you also get the other.
Has it always been like this? Let’s go back and see. Back to the Genesis.
Please allow me to translate Genesis 1: 1-26 to modern day language.
In the beginning God created some heavens and the Earth. The Earth was a Hot Mess. Darkness was everywhere. Hope wasn’t anywhere to be found. God didn’t like how things were progressing, so His Spirit began to move. God wanted there to be Hope, so He started putting things in order. Light, you go there. Day, Night, Land, Oceans, Animals, Plants, everyone get in your place. Sun, Moon, Stars, Sky, you know the drill! Then God said, All this Really good. Expect, something is missing.
Actually, it was someone’s who was missing. Care to guess who?
Then God said let us make mankind in Our Image and likeness, so they may rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, livestock, animals, and creatures too. So, God made male and female, and he blessed them (We have all been blessed by God) and then he said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Genesis 1: 27.28.
God saw everything was a mess, so He set order. But He still needed someone. Someone to be an answer. Enter the Proposers for Purpose!
Pay close attention to what he told them to do: 1. Be Fruitful – Bring about new growth, add, don’t subtract. 2. Increase in Number – Help others live, as I have given you an opportunity to live. 3. Subdue – Get things under control, put things in order. In your environment of chaos and confusion set order just like you saw me do here.
Your Purpose is Your Passion that’s been Packed in a Problem.
Some of us have passion for plants, some for animals, some for people, some for the oceans, others for the planet. They all need our help.
Find what breaks your heart, makes your blood boil, whatever seems so ridiculously silly/stupid, is all jacked up, the thing that you say makes absolutely no sense, and then you’ll have found your Purpose.
It used to be Concealed in Pain, a Problem, a Contentious situation, but now you’ve discovered its hiding place.
Now you know why Problems seem to be wherever you go, because that’s Your Purpose trying to get your attention. It’s calling you to it.
Answer the Call. Be the Solution that you were created to be!
Fix, Subdue, Help, Serve, Lead, Guide, Answer, Direct, Support.
Some feel Purpose can influence your behavior, I believe your behavior fulfills your Purpose. Peace comes once you’ve walked in Purpose.
Something that is placed under the soil or underground could be seen as buried, but what if it was planted.
Giants reveal, concealed Kings, and Queens. This is Your Time!
