LIFE IN YOUR FEELINGS Pt.2
We hear a lot about Good Mental Health, which is very important. But it’s also important to note that a vital component of that is, Good Emotional Health. It’s tough to have one without the other.
Living Life in Your Feelings doesn’t necessarily promote Good Emotional Health, but it can if you are intentional about your Feelings.
Previously we talked about the difference between Emotions and Feelings and how each has its own meaning. They are not interchangeable, but they are interdependent.
We also looked at the fact that you can’t control an Emotion from presenting itself to you, but you can control your Feelings about it, through your Response to that Emotion. That’s how we can abort or avert a situation from getting out of control. Here’s Part 1 for your review. LIFE IN YOUR FEELINGS Pt. 1 — Benton T. Thompson III (bentonthompsoniii.com)
Much of what we practice regarding our Emotional Health is Cognitive Learned Behavior.
Cognitive is where we get the word Recognize. Cognition deals with Remembering.
Which simply means that we tend to react to things that look like something from our past, the same way we did then.
“If you keep doing what you been doing, then you’ll keep getting what you been getting.” Benton Thompson III
It is a repeat behavior pattern. But that behavior pattern can be changed.
Allow me to show you how.
Feelings are expressions of Emotions which are often done through WORDS! We use WORDS to express how we Feel.
The WORDS you choose to represent your feelings about a situation are important.
Every time you repeat those WORDS, you repeat those Feelings.
Change your WORDS and you’ll see your Feelings change.
There is a Proverbs that tell us that Wise Words bring forth Life.
I mentioned earlier that our Emotional Health can be improved if we are intentional.
In efforts to be intentional we must pay close attention to what comes out of our mouth after we say, “I or I am”.
“I am tired”, then you’ll Feel tired
“I am hungry”, then you’ll Feel hungry and try to find something to satisfy you. Caution: Careful what you hunger for.
“I want to go somewhere”. Then you’ll Feel anxious.
“I Feel good”, and you will Feel good.
Our WORDS energize or give life to our Feelings.
Feelings from Emotional experiences can be taught to be controlled through our WORDS.
That’s why it says, “Let the weak SAY I am strong”. Those WORDS energize Feelings of strength so they can come to come to life.
This power comes from our paternal genetics. God said let there be, and then there was.
Its not about trying to be Positive, it’s about being Powerful.
Speak Words of Power not Failure. Speak Words of Victory not Defeat.
WORDS ARE POWERFUL! Just ask anyone who has been verbally abused and they’ll tell you so.
Most fights and wars started with WORDS. Why? Because what was said, their WORDS got energized!
Since WORDS start and energize wars to begin, that means they can also start and energize PEACE, HEALING, CALMNESS to begin.
The Bible tells us that a “kind Word can turn away anger and wrath”
WORDS shape WORLDS.
WORDS not only impact our Emotional Health, but they also impact our Physical Health as well.
Did you know that your Emotions and subsequent Feelings about them affect your organs? It’s true.
Science has proven that your heart and small intestine are impacted by Feelings of Joy, Happiness, Excitement, Impatience, and Hatred.
Our spleen, stomach, and pancreas respond to Anxiety, Worry, Trust.
Wait there’s more. Your kidney and bladder respond to feelings of Fear and Calmness. Your liver and gallbladder can detect Kindness, Frustration. And your lungs, skin, and large intestines can sense Courage and Depression.
We were told “death and life are in the power of the tongue/WORDS”
But this offers a whole new perspective on Living Life by your Feelings.
With this new information let’s try to empower what we want, and not empower what we don’t want.
Maybe that’s why we are also told “Let the sick SAY, I AM HEALED”
You can use your WORDS to direct your FEELINGS to inform your EMOTIONS to EMOTE your Heart Happy, your Spleen Clean, your Kidneys Calm, and Command Courage to fill your Lungs with life.
Try Speaking GOOD WORDS and let your Feelings bless your life.
Or you can choose to speak NEGATIVE WORDS and see what happens, all you have to lose is your health and livelihood.
