R.I.P. Rest in Peace Pt. 2
Whenever most people think of the phrase Rest in Peace, they relegate it to the dead. As if only the dead need to rest in peace!
What about the living?
I don’t know about you, but I want to Rest in Peace while I am alive.
There are a lot of misconceptions about Peace.
Some people think that being at Peace means being passive, non-confrontational and refraining from any action. They think that Peace is the wimp’s way. As though peace is not violent.
Those people who believe that would be absolutely incorrect!
Peace is very active. Peace is not passive. Peace involves violence.
Peace and Fighting have a very symbiotic relationship.
No country or people anywhere have ever experienced peace or freedom without a fight or battle. Wars are fought for peace. War is violent.
If you live in a place where there is peace, it is because someone has fought for that peace. I salute and appreciate all those who are and have fought for peace. They are heroes.
It takes military action to bring about peace.
Even during the Bible days, every believer had to fight before entering their promised land. No one was able to get their land and obtain peace without a fight. Whether they were soldiers or not they had to fight for peace.
Now you see why I said that Peace and Fighting are symbiotic.
You cannot have one without the other.
Prayers send heaven’s soldiers out to fight for peace on earth.
If you need peace, then you need prayer
Don’t do it to be religious, do it to get results!
Most of us are familiar with the account of Jesus and his disciples on a boat during a storm.
Jesus was asleep while a storm was raging and crashing against their tiny fishing boat as they cross the “Sea of Galilee”, which was actually a huge lake.
The disciples thought they were going to die. They were angry that Jesus was sleeping while the boat was nearly going under.
Jesus was asleep because he was resting in peace.
But what about the storm you say? As the account goes, they awakened Jesus, and he stood up in the boat and said something very odd.
He said, “Peace Be Still”. He didn’t say storm be still, or lightning be still. He said Peace Be Still.
Why did he say Peace be Still?
Because Peace was the one causing all the ruckus.
When a parent hears or senses some rebel rousing, wrestling or ruckus, they call out the child’s name that is the guilty party.
Jesus called out Peace. Why what was Peace doing?
Peace was tussling with the demonic spirits that were trying to hinder Jesus from getting to the other side of the lake.
You see he was on his way to perform an exorcism on the other side of the lake, and those demons were not at all happy that he was coming their way.
So, they tried to stop Jesus before he got there. They incited a fight.
Jesus was able to rest because Peace was fighting for him.
They got me to thinking. I wonder if sometimes when we were heading somewhere to do something and things got disruptive before we could leave, what that was?
Maybe we were going to help someone or do a kind deed, and it seemed like all hell broke out.
Maybe that wasn’t hell, it might have been Peace fighting for us against hell.
Wonder if that was Peace fighting the forces that were trying to stop us.
Peace is Powerful! Don’t underestimate all that Gods peace is fighting in your life so that we too can Rest in Peace.
There are thousands of angels are fighting right now for your Peace.
Shalom!
This is a Thompson Truth!
