A FIGHT TO OBEY

What first comes to mind when you hear the word obey?

Do you cringe? Are you indifferent?

Or does some form of defiance raise up in you?

Maybe you believe it is archaic, outdated and has no place in today’s society.

Perhaps an image flashed in your mind of an instance when someone was attempting to control you, and thus they required you to obey them.

We all have different reactions to the sound of the word obey.

That is because of our own personal predisposition to what we believe obey means.

Some women feel repulsed at the sound of the word obey, because they believe it means they are to become a mindless slave to a cruel master.

Similarly, there are men who also hate hearing the word obey in reference to them, because they feel it involves their emasculation.

Even the youth get involved with the rejection of the word obey, because they feel it stifles their freedom of expression.

In many cases, whatever the case, you can easily find a fight to obey.

I am reminded of an anecdote my father shared with me and my eight siblings.

If you see everyone is going in the same direction and you decide to join them, make sure you know WHO you are joining. There is a huge difference between a mob and a movement.

This got me to wondering, why is there such a great resistance to obeying?

As I explored my manual on Faith, I found that God mentions “Obey” several times throughout it.

Is it possible that there is a connection between Faith and Obedience?

As I continued reading and studying, I found that even Jesus had an issue with obeying.

It said that it was important that he LEARNED TO OBEY.

Hmm. Even he had to learn how to obey. Wow!

This was confirmation, that there must be a connection between Faith and Obeying.

So, as I studied further, I received a greater understanding.

This is what I got.

As we grow in our Faith, we will eventually become Believers.

Things we previously accepted by Faith, we learned to be the Truth, and we now are Believers of the Truth.

Faith is simply a trust in the unseen.

We grow and walk in Faith, on the legs of Obeying, the Truth that we hear.

The more we Obey, the stronger our Faith grows.

As we continue obeying, and thus continue growing, we will see the things that we trusted in, becoming manifested right before our very eyes.

That is why the fight to obey is so vicious because it serves as a key to unlock the manifestation to what we have been “Faithing” for.

This is a Thompson Truth.
