GODS WILL BE DONE
Is it just me, or have you also noticed that whenever someone says… Gods Will Be Done, it sounds like they are offering the last rites to a person whom they believe is already half dead, or in a situation they believe is already over. All that is left to be said is the benediction! Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust!
Is that really what Gods Will being done means?
Having Gods Will take place in our life was never meant to be a death nail. But somehow, somewhere along the way that idea got deeply entrenched in certain circles, namely in the church and with some church folk.
I would hope that Gods Will being done in my life is more like hitting the lottery than hitting the wall.
We all have choices that we can make in our decisions, that’s a right given to each one of us by God himself.
So, if God gave us the right to choose, why would choosing His way be bad? Or if our way was the better choice, then why even present a worse option? Choose you this day…is what God said.
God won’t make us choose his way. That’s why he gave us a choice.
God has always offered us the right to choose, even from the very beginning of time, and all the way up to the end of time.
We can choose to do what we think would make us happy, like most of us have done repeatedly, but often without favorable results.
Or we could choose to allow the one who knows and sees the future, because he was there at the beginning, and will be there at the end, to be a vital part of our decision-making process.
That’s the equivalent to asking someone like Warren Buffet for financial advice or getting a young child to direct us in the stock market.
I no longer have the time, energy, or delusion to subject myself to the foolish notion that I actually know what’s best for my life.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and scars to prove it.
Does surrendering to Gods Will require relinquishing all the things that bring us pleasure?
Some believe that if we give into Gods Will, we must be stripped naked, have everything taken from us, wear only a tunic and a loincloth, and be resigned to walk in the desert for the rest of our natural born days.
They say…Afterall, didn’t God call us all to be missionaries abroad?
As silly as that sounds, that’s how silly this notion is!
Some infer that’s what accepting Gods Will to be done means.
But let’s look for ourselves at what God says His Will is for us.
- Don’t fear, I am with you; don’t be concerned, I am your Father, God. I will strengthen you when you are weak, I will brace you when you stagger, I will keep my hand on you always. Psalm 23
- I will meet all your needs with my riches that were supplied for you in heavens glory by Jesus. Proverbs 18
- My Blessings will bring you true riches and add no sorrow. Proverbs 10
- Every good and perfect gift has come from above, from me your Father. James 1
- I will give you incomprehensible peace when you need it most. Phillipians 4
In asking for Gods Will to be done, we are not asking for our desires to die, but rather to get Gods help, insight, and guidance in making our desires align with His purpose for our life.
As we live by heaven’s way, a.k.a. The Kingdom, from which we came and shall return, our hearts and minds will be more focused on eternal/everlasting bliss and less on the material/temporal eye candy of the moment.
Gods Will on earth begins with us, that’s why we were put here.
We would already be in His Kingdom with him, if we didn’t have a role here.
God’s Will is not a What, but a Who. Ok, well then Who is Gods Will?
WE ARE GOD’S WILL!
Just like the stars, moon, and sun are His will.
A Will is a testament and We are God’s testament.
We are His Kingdom Ambassadors here on Planet Earth.
Here’s the 10-million-dollar question; What is Gods Will for My life?
