HEART DISEASE

Heart disease is a very scary prognosis.

It has become the number one cause of death.

Heart disease is not just one problem but rather a group of problems that affect the heart.

Statistics show that in the US alone, one person dies every 33 seconds from heart disease.

You can’t live without a heart and your quality of life is greatly diminished if you have an unhealthy one.

Millions upon millions of us have unhealthy hearts which puts us at risk.

Sounds like a PSA, doesn’t it? That’s because it is. It’s a Personal Spiritual Announcement.

Many of us know the heart as a muscle that pumps blood received from the veins into arteries throughout the body that sustains life.

That physical organ is not what is being referred to all throughout the Bible more than 800 times.

There comes a point in time in life when our physical bodies will cease to exist.

Life is not over then, only life as we now know it will end, and then there will be more. More life. Spiritual life.

We will live out eternity as our original spiritual selves.

With that very same heart that God speaks of.

The heart that God is talking about is referring to the spiritual core of our being. The true center of us.

That core reflects how we relate to God. It is our connection to the spiritual realm.

Just like the natural heart dictates life so too does the spiritual heart.

Look at what this Proverb says.

Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.

This means that your heart controls your life.

Every issue we have in life is a direct result of the state of our Heart.

The heart is the center of every being, knitting together intellect, emotions, and will.

The heart is at the center of every relationship we have with one another and with God.

It is where we have our deepest encounters and commitments to one another.

The heart is always seeking a connection beyond itself.

It feels disconnected when it is not connected to another.

We crave communion. A deep communion of intellect, emotion, and reason.

This speaks to how we have been crafted in the image of God.

In other words, God made us this way, because that’s how he is.

Our hearts not only image Gods, but it is how we relate to him intimately, it’s our connection to him.

Gods heart craves us, and our hearts were made to crave him.

Our hearts are restless until they are united with God. That’s why we are always searching for some sort of a spiritual connection. Because we were designed to do so.

Our desire for that connection is manifested in our attraction for glorious, beautiful things like a sunrise, sunset, a rainbow, the power of the ocean, or something wonderful and unexplainable we see in nature.

This attraction for the beautiful expands our capacity for love and greatness.

It helps us to seek beyond ourselves. We want things beyond ourselves.

When we experience love, we only want it to go on, and on, and on, and on, without ending.

The only place that we can experience a never-ending love is with God.

Only there can we reach our full potential to love and be loved.

It is only when we enter a relationship with the source of all love, all things, our Creator, who loves without bias, and infinitely more than we can love ourselves.

It is there that we can find the love we seek.

Our heart can only be satisfied when we receive inexhaustible, eternal, and unconditional self-giving love from another, which can only be found in God.

In our search for that love, we can sometimes get off track, a distraction or illusion can pull us off track.

Something disconnects us from God. A distorted relationship, desire, or goal.

Its okay, Gods grace is there to call us back into fellowship with him.

Sometimes it’s that call back that we are experiencing.

You might be hearing it now through this message.

The call is to come back to ourselves, back from the hurt, back from the injustice, the ego, the habit, or whatever else took us away.

Gods grace from Gods heart will help us discover the deeper meaning of life and true fulfillment in unconditional love, which is at the very heart of our creation and being.

God gets so intimate with us which enables us to freely exchange love with him.

This opening up of ourselves towards him is what leads us to love others, the poor, the victimized, the needy, and the seemingly unlovely.

We have been given the awesome opportunity to live in alliance and agreement with our eternal Creator.

All because he gave us a heart like his.

Until we get with God, we will all have Heart Disease.

Pay attention to your (Spiritual) Heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23
