IMAGINARY FAITH Part 1

When most of us hear the word Imaginary, we usually think of something that’s not real, fake, just something that’s made up, make believe or pretend. Like the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy.

Likewise, Faith, could be thought of in such similar terms. Its hoping that something will happen, and then pretending that it already has.

Isn’t Believing like Pretending? Is pretending a bad thing?  We used to do it as children.

But we’re adults now, and we can’t just sit around all day imagining stuff, like we are Peter Pan.

Besides, Isn’t Imagination something that is used heavily in the occult. Yes, it is.

But also consider, that drug dealers, drug users, nuns, housewives, single parents, children, murders, the elderly, and hardworking people, all ride in cars.

What’s the point? Imagination is but a vehicle that transports us all between realities.

Faith is transcendent and reaches its highest potential when you add in imagination.

Faith and Imagination. Imagination and Faith. Faith uses Imagination.

God uses Imagination, and he believes in the power of it whole heartedly.

A long time ago, there was a group of refugees who settled in a desert plain area.

They wanted to build a mighty fortified city, about the size of Chicago, complete with walls and a huge tower.

They wanted this tower to be seen from all around the region, even from outer space. They imagined building a tower as high as the heavens.

God saw their activity, and this was his response.

And the Lord said, I see these people are unified, and they are all speaking the same language; and they have come together to do this thing: and now nothing can stop them, from doing that which they have imagined doing. Genesis 11:6

This is one example of proof that God believes in the power of imagination. He said nothing could stop them and their imagination.

The area where those refugees settled was called Babylon, which is now currant day Iraq.

And Science has once again confirmed the Bible by using Archaeological evidence.

The building of the tower had been attempted twice, once with the early citizens of Shinar (Babylon), and then again with one of its kings Nebuchadnezzar II.

Nebuchadnezzar attempted rebuilding a ziggurat (a rectangular steeped tower) just south of Bagdad. Those ruins have been confirmed as The Tower of Babylon from the Bible.

Consider this, The Atomic Bomb, the First Flight, polio vaccination, tear gas, a trip to the moon, the lightbulb, the death ray, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and the cell phone, all came to pass because of someone’s imagination.

God created the entire world and all the universes out of his imagination.

We must ask ourselves what are we building from our imagination?

Is it good? Is it helpful? Is it what we want for ourselves? For others?

Our minds can be a formidable opponent or great asset on the path to having a better life.  Imagination plays a big role in that.

Our minds can dredge up all kinds of negative images when things are not going well to derail us with doubt and fear – if we let it.

Developing a good and healthy imagination is one of the great challenges of life.

Your mind aims your life on the trajectory path that it thrushes forward on.

“So as a man thinks, so shall he be” is what it says in our Faith Manual.

There are things that we all have experienced that were outside of our control, regardless of their severity of those experiences they stay with you. Those experiences have become a part of our story.

Overcoming the story can become quite the challenge. Imaginary Faith can help.

For Example: if you say, “I grew up poor and I am always going to be poor,” that is an example of your story taking control.

Comparatively, if you said “I grew up poor, but I am working hard now and I’m believing God has a better plan for my life. I can see myself overcoming the odds. I can imagine myself not having the same struggles my family did.”– that’s an example of overcoming your story by using Imaginary Faith.

The option is yours to shift the narrative with intentionality and a good dose of self-awareness.

We must be willing to let go of the mythical stories that don’t have a positive outcome, in favor of exploring the present and future moments with Imaginary Faith.

Carrying around old, negative images stifles your ability to move forward and engage in positive self-reflections which is paramount to your new life.

When you set your past story aside filled with negativity, in favor of embracing your future story with Imaginary Faith, you encourage others to do the same.

Overcoming your story empowers you to embrace this moment as an opportunity to write your new story – the one where you direct your path with your thoughts and images.

Our Imagination becomes our thoughts, our thoughts become our words, our words become our meditations, and our meditations becomes our life.

So go ahead, why not Dare to Imagine your best Life of Faith in God!
