KINGDOM COME - Part 2

In our last talk we were discussing the Kingdom of God, and trying to get a better understanding of What it is and Why we should care about it.

Today I’d like to continue that discussion and add to that, Who we are in the Kingdom, which is a big reason why we should know about it.

As previously stated, 22% of the world’s community today are still under the rule of what we know as a Monarchy Kingdom, with a man or woman called a king or queen as their head.

Another kingdom that many are also familiar with is the Biological Kingdom. The kingdom of plants, animals, fungi, Monera/microscopic things, and Protista/all things other than plants, animals, and fungus.

None of the traditional kingdom’s function like the Kingdom of God.

But there are also a great many non-traditional kingdoms out there too.

Nontraditional like the Geosocial kingdoms, whose territory spans the worldwide web. (www) Kingdoms like eBay, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Meta to name a few. They’ve built quite an empire, and their monarchs have very powerful Influences over our society.

There are other nontraditional kingdoms too, in the entertainment and media industry. One that comes to the top of mind is Disney and their kingdom, the Magic Kingdom. 17 million people visit its emperor Walt Disney each year. To be entertained, play, act “Goofy” and have fun.

None of these are anything like the Kingdom of God. Or shouldn’t be.

Sadly, there are a few imposter locations that fly under the banner of The Kingdom of God but conduct themselves like Walt’s kingdom.

They also have actors and performances, characters to entertain, serve junk food to the patrons, and fail to acknowledge God as their King.

The Kingdom of God is not about playing games, entertaining, or having everyone come to see the cast or show.

The Kingdom of God is not for those who like to play “make believe”, although some do, it is for those who REALLY DO BELIEVE.

Look at this passage about The Kingdom of God.

Gods Kingdom isn’t about getting the foods you like to eat, getting what you want to drink or wear, it’s not a social club, but instead it is about righteousness and pleasing God. It’s about living in peace and having true happiness. All this comes from a true relationship with God and his precious Holy Spirit.   Romans 14

So then, the basis for understanding the Kingdom of God and doing right and pleasing God comes from having a true relationship with God.

Well let’s go back to the beginning and see someone who had a true relationship with God. Adam was given purpose and significance when he was told by the Creator/Sovereign to tend/grow/increase the Garden of Eden, or metaphorically the Kingdom of God.

Adam KNEW God personally and God KNEW Adam personally.

Adams value, significance, purpose, and sense of rightness was all tied to his personal relationship with his Sovereign Creator and Father God.

Is there anything you have tied to an old relationship? Never mind

Adam was Gods first human child and the first human being.

There’s a huge responsibility that comes with being first.

Whether, First born, First to buy a house, First to get married, First to go to college, First to start a business, First …Comes with Pressure.

Adam was first. You know what first means? I didn’t, so I looked it up.

First or Fyrest, was an Old English term that related to a German word Furst, meaning “prince”.

Yes, Adam was a Prince. Makes since though, because his Father/ Creator/God is King. You know what else makes sense? You and I are Prince’s and Princess’s, because we have the same Creator/Father/King.

We need to see ourselves as both Citizens and Royalty of the Kingdom of God/Heaven. Why? Because 23andme can’t/won’t tell you that!

Yeah, but didn’t Adam fall/sin? Doesn’t that change our position too?

No, because there was another/last Adam that returned us to our rightful position in the Kingdom. Look at what it says here in 1 Corinthians 15

“The first Adam became a living soul, the last Adam became a life-giving spirit and restored those who had been lost”

That means Jesus restored us to our positions as Prince and Princess’s.

Sadly, many of us don’t know who we are, because we have been influenced by the aforementioned kingdoms of this world. We’ve been Tricked, Bamboozled into thinking WE ARE, who THEY SAY we are.

Adam knew that a relationship with God was important. But now he was out of fellowship with Him, so he tried to substitute that relationship with something else. So, he tried replacing it with a significant other, a job, things that brought him pleasure. Does any of this sound familiar?

Adam failed to realize that not only was his relationship with God irreplaceable plus it also made him who he was. A Prince with Purpose!

Only a close intimate relationship with God our Sovereign King will put us back in our rightful place as royalty and citizens in the Kingdom of God and help us find the purpose, value, and significance that we’ve been searching for our entire lives. That’s why we need to know who we are.

God not only wants us to see Him for who he is, but also see ourselves for who we are.

This is a Thompson Truth
