PARTURITION OF SPIRIT
I recently mentioned that Wisdom is a rare commodity.
Not everyone has it. Not because there is a limited supply or low availability.
The truth is quite the opposite. There is an unlimited supply of all the wisdom we would ever need.
Wisdom is rare because it has exceptional beauty, with value unlike anything else, but it is uniquely acquired.
One can easily increase in knowledge or learning.
We can store up knowledge through books, research, and education.
But to acquire wisdom the process is a little different. Not harder, just different.
Today, let’s explore what different looks like.
As previously stated, to receive wisdom; you must be willing to sacrifice your knowledge.
We must be willing to put aside what we know, or what we think we know, to acquire the wisdom that we must have.
Knowledge is a natural process that is birthed and resides in the region of the mind.
Wisdom is a process imbedded and made alive in one’s spirit.
That is why we need a Parturition of Spirit.
Like water during birth, it will dictate the time, and we must go with the flow.
The deeper meaning of wisdom is the ability to distinguish that which is wise, from that which is unwise.
The best way to become wise, is by intentionally cultivating your relationship with wisdom.
Therein lies the key. Wisdom is relational, knowledge is impersonal.
You don’t have to have a relationship with anyone to become knowledgeable.
You can read and study all own your own. Never interacting with anyone.
Wisdom is different. It is all about the relationship.
You learn and grow in wisdom from your relationships with others.
I’ve heard it said, Wisdom provides a level of knowledge, that is above college.
Many of the great leaders and influencers have had mentors to learn from.
Someone with whom they could get insight and feedback from.
They would be provided wisdom from the learnings of another.
If we were to follow their example, then we should look for someone to instruct us who has sound wisdom.
Someone we deem as wise.
Once we identified that person, we should spend dedicated time with them and allow them to share their learnings with us.
It is extremely important that we choose the right guide.
We are not looking for someone who just has knowledge.
We want someone who walks, lives, and breathes in Wisdom.
That sounds like a tall order to fill…. because it is.
People are fickle, as we know all too well. One minute we do, the next we don’t.
But do you know who is always constant and stable? God.
God never changes. Which means he never gets old and forgets.
He is always current and relevant. He knows our past and our future.
All the wisdom I have, I have received it from my relationship with God.
Notice I did not say from going to church. I said from my relationship with God.
God is Wisdom. One of the other many names for God is Ancient of Days.
Which means He is All Wise.
Wisdom is transmittable. When you hang out with God you get wisdom by contact.
Wisdom is not gotten from; it is gotten by. By fellowship with God.
Find a place where you can see nature. Go outside somewhere.
Steal away from all the noise. Don’t bring your phone, computer, or any electronics.
Focus on the sky, a cloud, a tree, a bird, the wind. Whatever you like.
And just hang out there for a few minutes. Watching, looking.
You don’t have to say anything. Just sit and listen.
Listen to the Wisdom from the Ancient of Days.
This is a Thompson Truth
