KEEN PERCIPIENCE
As you’ve probably already noticed, the past several messages have been thematic.
In this New Year, my intent was not to necessarily share a New Message, but rather to give us New Purpose and New Intentionality.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing various TRUTHS, that I have received concerning Wisdom.
First, we looked at What We Can Have. Learning to understanding the Value of Wisdom, and how it is the most desired treasure of all treasures. INESTIMABLE WEALTH — Benton T. Thompson III (bentonthompsoniii.com)
Next, we looked at What We Can Become. How we can all be Superhero’s by using the Superpower of Wisdom, to change not only our life, but also the lives of those around us too. ANOMALOUS INSIGHT — Benton T. Thompson III (bentonthompsoniii.com)
After that, we looked at What If? If, I knew better, I could do better. If I knew then, what I know now. We learned that the unknown, can be known, if we just tune into it. HINDSIGHT FORESIGHT — Benton T. Thompson III (bentonthompsoniii.com)
Then, we looked at Why We Need It. To help us break bad habits. How not to continually operate in Hindsight Bias. Wash, Rinse, Repeat…Wash, Rinse, Repeat. KNOWLEDGE OR WISDOM? — Benton T. Thompson III (bentonthompsoniii.com)
At the very core of my soul, I am a pragmatic learner, as are most Seekers of the Truth. We look for ways to apply the lessons we’ve learned, to our life personally.
In this information age in which we live, it is very easy to become a data glut.
Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie, My Name is Jimmy, and I’ll take all the information you can Gimmie.
Well, my name is not Jimmy. And I am not someone who just wants information.
I’ve said, it’s dangerous to receive information, faster than you can process it.
You can get intellectual heartburn, mental angina, or become an intelligent idiot.
These things happen when we don’t take the time to digest what we are eating.
I share TRUTHS with other Pragmatics like myself. Also known as SEEKERS.
We pragmatics, can handle if it doesn’t make sense to us right now, because we know, we don’t know, all there is to know.
But it does have to have purpose. We must be able to use what we’ve learned.
We use information to help us make decisions to take actions that are useful in practice, not just theory.
We’re not seeking to be religious, but rather to be relational.
How can I relate, to what is being said to me? Trivia is trivial.
So today we will look at the Practicality of Wisdom and how it can help us to have Keen Percipience.
Wisdom is a rare commodity. One can easily increase in knowledge or learning.
We can store up knowledge through books, research, and education.
But to acquire wisdom the process is a little different. Not harder, just different.
You see to receive wisdom; you must be willing to sacrifice your knowledge.
I must be willing to put aside what I know, or what I think I know, to acquire the wisdom that I must have.
Afterall, it was our own knowledge, that got us into the binds, that we got into in the first place.
I for one, am certainly willing to trade in my knowledge for God’s wisdom.
Some might ask, what can wisdom do for me?
Pragmatically speaking, wisdom will help us to have better judgment of things.
Oftentimes our judgement of a person, situation, or subject is off.
Our percipience needs to be adjusted, it not keen.
And when our percipience if off that’s how we miss our blessings.
That’s why we need Keen Percipience!
Look/listen to what this beautiful proverb has to say.
Learn to become wise and develop good judgement and good common sense!
This point cannot be overemphasized.
As you cling to wisdom, she will protect you. Love her, and she will guard you.
Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do.
And with wisdom comes the development of common sense and good judgement.
If you value and uphold wisdom, she will value and uphold you.
Hold her close and tight to you, and she will lead you to great honor.
She will place a beautiful crown upon your head.
Wow, this was a powerful and very beautiful proverb about wisdom!
Notice the proverb referred to wisdom as she. Sensitive, caring, and nurturing.
Love her, speaking of wisdom. Honor her, the beautiful lady wisdom.
As we do so, we will get in return good judgement and good common sense.
Now that’s exactly what we pragmatic learners need.
Not okay percipience, but KEEN PERCIPIENCE that is good and practical.
Not my judgment, but Gods Good Judgement. I’M IN… Care to join me?
This is a Thompson Truth
