SELF ENCOURAGEMENT
If you encourage yourself, then you will not have to wait for others to do it.
We do not have to wait for it to come from someone else. Give it to yourself in a measure equal to what you believe you are entitled to.
Being self-encouraged is akin to being self-motivated. Waiting for encouragement from others can oftentimes become an exercise in futility and frustration. Others can be simply too unreliable to give you encouragement when you need it most.
Encouragement is important because it leads to confidence.
Confidence is the very fuel we need to walk in our destiny.
The definition of Encourage, is “To inspire with courage, spirit, or hope.”
When we get encouragement or when we encourage someone else, courage is imparted. Simply put, you receive an impartation of inner or internal courage.
By learning to encourage ourselves, we can become that added boost that we need to move forward in life. We can become our own best ally.
Many of us, unfortunately, have already mastered the job of being our own adversary. Let us turn the tables and now become our best advocate.
Why can’t we be the friends to ourselves that we want someone else to be?
Who knows you better than you? You know what you need better than anyone else.
One of the best examples of self- love is self-encouragement.
When we apply self-encouragement, we begin to experience better overall health and happiness, more fulfilling relationships, and start to require less of others.
One of the things we have all learned over our years of life is the power of words.
We have heard both good and bad words spoken over us, sometimes from ourselves.
Sometimes we repeat the negative words spoken over and over. We have these self-talks, where we are repeating the negative narratives.
Bad words like; you can’t, you’re not, you’ll never, and you are not good enough.
Let us begin a new tradition of consistently speaking good words over ourselves like, I am improving, I am getting better, I am learning, and I GOT THIS!
Repeat after me, I CAN DO THIS, I WAS MADE THIS, I HAVE BEEN PREPAIRED FOR THIS MOMENT ALL OF MY LIFE, THIS IS MY TIME!
See, you just gave yourself a boost of inner courage in less than 10 seconds. Feel free to do this as often as you like in a day, you have 86,400 seconds to work with.
You just experienced a good self-talk. Can you see the trend here? Self-encouragement through self-talk.
You are an untapped power source! Use the power within you to help yourself.
Too often we want someone else to do what God has already given us the power to do for ourselves. There are certainly things that others can help us with, but there are lots of things that we can do for ourselves.
My faith manual speaks of a king named David, who was so low that no one could pick him up, except for him. He had to self-encourage. He did so and went on to experience better overall health and happiness, just like I shared earlier.
I too have been here recently very low, due to the sudden death of my little brother, no one could say anything to pick me up. I must self-encourage.
Self -talk is just one way in which we can receive self-encouragement.
Here are a few other ways that I have tried that work:
Prayer – Simply talk to God about what you are feeling. Share what you feel and look for a response.
Attitude of gratitude – Think of things that are working in your favor. Think and then thank.
Exposure – Get encouragement through music, messages, books, blogs, and people.
Giving – Encourage someone else and it will encourage you too.
Investing in yourself is never a waste of time. If you feel as though you are lacking momentum or motivation, take a minute to invest in encouraging yourself.
Believe that you can. Believe that you will. Giving up is not an option. Encourage yourself to believe that you have confidence enough to find a way. If what you are doing is not working, be confident that you will find a different way. If you have failed, be confident that you will learn and grow and succeed another time.
Confidence is not the ability to do something. Confidence gives you the ability to try again and again, to find a way so you can accomplish your goal.
I pray this word has encouraged you. If you need more, there is a great source waiting for you in your mirror. Be encouraged!
This is a Thompson Truth.
